The vineyard and winery came about as a result of two tornados. The first storm in May of 1999 hit the home of owners Don and Annetta Neal and the adjoining property. 

The storm enabled the purchase of neighboring property for development into a vineyard.. The first grapes were planted in 2000. 

The winery came as a result of the 2003 tornado that leveled the Neal's downtown warehouse. The replacement building is now the winery to the east of the tasting room.
